13 Pages. One front cover on 200gsm silk art paper printed full colour one side, no back cover, inner 12 pages printed full colour one side on 150gsm silk art paper, wire bound at the top with a calendar hanger.
14 Pages. Front and back covers on 200gsm silk art paper printed full colour one side. Calendars bound with back cover printed side facing outwards by default. Let the Helpdesk know if you need anything different. Inner 12 pages printed full colour one side on 150gsm silk art paper, wire bound at the top with a calendar hanger.
Our "standard" calendars that you can order online are printed on Triple coated silk paper. This is a silk paper similar to the ones that you see in magazines and illustrated "coffee" table books. It is quite matt with a slight sheen. If you would like us to use a different paper, or a different weight of paper, please have a chat with the helpdesk on 01452 751900.

We can order in different coloured wires for your calendar, but as this comes on a large spool of thousands of loops, this may only be cost effective for larger quantities.
Portrait means that the width is less than the height, landscape means that the width is greater than the height. Think of paintings on a wall, landscape paintings tend to be wider than they are tall, portraits tend to be narrower than they are tall.
With wall calendars, the wire and hanger is on the short edge for portrait orientation and the long edge for landscape orientation.
We can only bind A3 calendars on the short edge.
This print service is from your own calendar artwork. You have complete freedom to design your calendar in the way it suits you. However, sometimes people just want to add pictures, etc. and don't want to design the part of the calendar with all the dates in it! If this is you, select this option and we will overlay a generic UK calendar (for the next year) for you. You will need to leave a space in your artwork for this, please read the artwork preparation guide for more details.
PDF (online soft proof). This is a technical process to check that your artwork is printable and to prepare it for printing as far as possible. We aim to provide your soft proof within 4 working hours and you will get an email notification when it is ready. This may take longer during our busy periods.
The PDF that you send us (your artwork) has a pre-flight check carried out and a number of automatic corrections may also be made if necessary. The resulting soft proof is a PDF that is viewable through your admin area of the web site. It is very important that you carefully review your soft proof and the pre-flight report that we send to you.
If your artwork fails our preflight checks you will not get a proof, but you will get a report letting you know what is wrong with your file. You can then fix the problem and resubmit your artwork.
We may warn you about potential problems with your artwork. In this case, your artwork CAN be printed and you will get a proof to check. You should carefully check the warnings in your report before deciding whether to proceed or submit new artwork.
Your first soft proof is included in the price of your order. If you find that you need to make alterations to your artwork and ask us to create another proof, we may make a small charge for each additional soft proof. Please contact the helpdesk to arrange payment if you need additional proofs.
Remember, this is a technical file check, we don't proof read your work or critique your design!
Hard copy proof.
This is a single physical copy of your calendar. When you select this option, your artwork will go through exactly the same steps as a soft copy proof and in fact you will also get a soft proof available to view through the web site. Do not approve this before you have examined your hard copy!
Please remember that you will have to pay for your order before we can manufacture your hard copy proof. You can cancel your order after recieving your hardcopy proof, but you will be charged for the hardcopy proof and the remainder of your payment will be refunded.
We will try to get your hardcopy proof out to you as soon as possible, but it can take up to 5 working days for us to despatch. If you need to expedite your hard copy proof, please call the helpdesk to discuss. They may be able to suggest ways to speed up this process, for instance you may wish to see only the printed sheets and not wait for the calendar to be bound.
These are working days to print. Our standard print service for calendars is 5 working days to print. You can pay a premium if you want your order on the faster 2 day to print service.
Whilst the majority of all orders leave on time, Print Service time is an estimate, not a guarantee. If your order has a hard deadline, for example you are ordering for an event and there is no contingency built in to your schedule for delays, you must let the helpdesk know!
It is exceptionally rare for an express (2 day) service order not to leave on time, but sometimes events (for example flooding or power cuts) are outside of our control.
Please remember to add transit (delivery) time to this and remember that these are working days to print and do not include weekends or bank holidays.
Unless you approve your order by 10am, the day that you approve your proof does not count in the time to print.
We cannot schedule your job to print until you have approved your proof. If you do not have a credit account with us, you will also need to pay for your job before we can schedule your job to print
Delivery is normally the next working day AFTER the job has been despatched. Working days are Monday-Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. You can pay extra for a Saturday delivery.

At this time of year, ever so many people get the lovely idea of creating a custom book for a special someone for Christmas and then place an order for one or two books with a nice friendly commercial printer, i.e. Inky!
It's the last possible moment. You've never printed with a commercial printer before. There's no time to READ the artwork preparation guide, let alone fix any artwork problems. Christmas will be ruined and your life devastated if the book doesn't arrive on time. What could possibly go wrong?
So please take some friendly advice from a team which has helped thousands of people through the process of successfully printing their first book (and we'll happily help you). It's a lovely idea, but be realistic about how much time you need and what time of year we are in. Allow yourself an EXTRA week on top of the print service time you select. This is to allow time to resolve any technical problems with your book. The print service time is FROM approval of artwork, i.e. when it is all ready to print. If you select the 5 working days to print service, remember that this is an estimate, not a guarantee. At busy times it can take longer, at quieter times it can take less time. The run up to Christmas is busy! Then allow some extra time for delivery. Everyone knows that from Black Friday until Christmas is the busiest time of year for couriers. Most of the time this just means an extra day in transit. But what if your parcel is delayed for 2 days? Three days? A week? It's rare, but please do think it through. If the delay would be a minor inconvenience to you, it's worth the risk. But if it is a disaster and will ruin Christmas and probably the rest of your life, then perhaps a nice box of chocolates would be a better idea for a present? And yes, we really have had people say that to us when the courier has misrouted their delivery!

It's all systems go here at Inky and the vast majority of orders are leaving on time. You know the drill, the closer to Christmas, the busier everything gets and lead times may extend. So it's super important to let the helpdesk know if you have any hard deadlines and we'll do our level best to make it happen. On the flip side, we always appreciate knowing if an order is not required before Christmas.
A quick status update: Hardbacks are really busy, Softbacks are busy (but we have plenty of capacity), Punchbound (wires, coils, calendars, etc.) and booklets are normal with plenty of capacity.

CHRISTMAS CLOSING DATES
Inky shuts down every year for Christmas! Don't worry, it's not like dormice. We don't go into hibernation, it's just a little break.
This year, we will be shut down from close of business on the 22nd of December and will be back in bright and early on January the 2nd. We'll be shipping your orders as normal right up to and including the 22nd of December.
