Portrait orientation simply means that they are taller than they are wide. If you would like another size, please call us for a custom price.

This page is for lithographically printed booklets. They are typically more expensive to set up a print run, but cheaper if you need larger quantities. Quantities of 500 and more are often cheaper printer lithographically. Smaller quantities are usually cheaper to print digitally. These days there is no real difference in the print quality between good digital and good litho print - they are both excellent quality.

If you are not familiar with buying print, then this one can be confusing. This refers to the number of printed pages. If you have a SHEET of A4 paper, you can print two A4 PAGES on it, one on the front and one on the back. If it's easier to think of it as "sides" printed, then go ahead and visualise it that way! Another way to think of this is to visualise a book with page numbering. The first side of the first sheet is page one, the reverse is page 2 and so on. Booklets are just the same.

Remember, when calculating the number of pages that you need, the "PP" (Printed Pages) that you select here, includes the cover, it's not in addition to the cover.

We can also print booklets with more pages than you can see on our calculator, just call the helpdesk to discuss this if you need this. The on line calculator shows the "standard" types of brochure / booklets that are commonly required. It is possible to completely customise this, for instance changing the paper, having foiling, embossed covers and even die cut booklets. If that's of interest, please contact the helpdesk for a custom quotation.

    You have two choices:

    • Self cover. A self cover booklet / brochure uses the exact same paper for the cover as it does for the inner pages.
    • Heavy cover. The cover is a different weight (and thickness) compared with the inner pages. When you select the heavy cover option, we will use a 300gsm card for your cover.

The type of paper used for the cover will always match your inner pages. So if you select a 170gsm silk for your pages and the Heavy cover option, your cover will be 300gsm silk art board.

    You have two choices:

    • Matt
    • Gloss

Laminating is an option when you select Heavy covers, it improves the appearance and protects the cover.

    You have two choices:

    • Matt
    • Gloss

130gsm is by far the most popular paper weight for inner pages, it's nice and opaque and reasonably light for mailing. 170gsm is popular for reports or where you want a slightly more prestige feel to the brochure.

Please remember that these are commercial printing papers and not the same as inkjet paper or photocopier paper. Silk is matt with a slight sheen. Gloss is a mid gloss, not photo paper. These are high quality sheets, similar to what you will see in products like fashion magazines and "coffee table" books. You are always welcome to ask for product samples before placing your order.

The type of paper used for the cover will always match your inner pages. So if you select a 170gsm silk for your pages and the Heavy cover option, your cover will be 300gsm silk art board. If you select self cover and 170gsm silk pages, everything will be printed on 170gsm silk.

    Full Colour

These prices include full colour printing throughout. If your job is primarily black & white, please call us for a price.

    Do I Pay VAT?

Under normal circumstances, booklets and brochures are zero rated for VAT according to HM Revenue & Customs definition.

    Why Do We Trim Booklets?

When you fold multiple sheets of paper, the inner pages "creep" out on the open end. This creep needs to be trimmed of to produce a neat job. Creep is more noticable with thicker booklets.

What If You Need More Pages?

We can print & finish thicker booklets. Please call us for a custom price. If your booklet is very thick, you should also consider alternative types of binding.
