What size is your document?
With the on-line price and specification tool you can currently choose from 3 different size documents:-
A5 (210 x 148 mm)
A4 (297 x 210 mm)
A3 (420 x 297mm)

Do you want wire or comb binding?
We offer many different types of document binding, this page is designed so that you can specify and calculate a price for Wire Bound and Comb Bound documents. To read more about these and other types of document binding, please visit our books & manuals general information page.
What colour wires would you like?
We currently only stock silver and black wires. We can buy in many other colours, so if you need a specific colour, please contact us for a quotation.
What colour combs would you like?
We currently only stock white and black combs. We can buy in many other colours, so if you need a specific colour, please contact us for a quotation.
Which edge do you want bound?
As you can see in the small picture, we can bind on either the short or long edge in many cases. Sometimes for technical reasons we can only bind on one or the other. Whichever edge we bind on becomes the spine of the book, so this will affect the overall shape of the book.
Do you want a printed front cover?
A printed cover is simply a printed on thicker material than the inners. You can choose how this is printed and you can also choose whether you wish the cover to be laminated for greater protection. If you don't choose a printed cover, then we strongly recommend that you use a clear ("acetate") protective front cover, otherwise the inner pages of your book will quickly become damaged.
How do you want the front cover printed?
If you have selected a printed front cover, then you can choose whether to print on both sides of the cover and whether you want the cover printed in full colour, or black and white or a mixture of both.
What weight card do you want for the front cover?
We recommend 300gsm for unlaminated covers and 250 or 300gsm for laminated covers. The other options are primarily there in case you need to keep the weight down if necessary. The heavier covers are slightly more expensive, but it's really only a tiny amount.
Do you want the front cover laminated?
This is highly recommended in order to help protect your book. Both matt and gloss are wipe clean. A one sided laminate will be applied to the outside of the cover. We recommend that you specify a two sided laminate for maximum protection.
Do you want a clear protector sheet on the front (acetate)?
If you do not want a printed front cover then this option is highly recommended as without it the inner pages of your book will very quickly become damaged. This is a clear plastic sheet through which you can see the first page of your book.
Do you want a printed rear cover?
A printed cover is simply a printed on thicker material than the inners. You can choose how this is printed and you can also choose whether you wish the cover to be laminated for greater protection. If you don't choose a printed rear cover, then we strongly recommend that you specify an embossed board rear cover, otherwise the inner pages of your book will quickly become damaged.
What type of rear cover would you like?
If you have chosen not to have a printed rear cover then you will need to specify an alternative rear cover in order to protect the inner pages of your book. For A5 and A4 sized documents we recommend that you choose an embossed card rear cover. We stock this in black. If you want something different, i.e. a different colour, then please contact us for a quotation. If your document is A3 in size, there is no embossed rear cover available. In this instance, we recommend that you choose the smooth white 300gsm card option.
How many COLOUR inside pages are there?
Please carefully check your document and calculate how many of the pages are to be printed in colour, as this is charged at a different rate to black and white. Many people think that if there is only a little bit of colour on the page then it should be counted as black and white. This is not the case, any colour on the page at all means that we have to print the entire page in colour. Please be aware that with word processor documents, the word processor may automatically insert colour for specific things - i.e. blue for web (hypertext) links. This also counts as colour, so if you do not want the page to be printed in colour, then make sure that everything on the page is changed to black before sending the file to us. This option is simply here so that you can calculate a price. We will check all files for the number of black and white and the number of colour pages and you will need to adjust the file or pay the difference in price if this number is not correct.
Do you want a clear protector sheet on the rear (acetate)?
Choose this option if you wish to specify a clear plastic sheet at the back of your book.
How many BLACK & WHITE inside pages are there?
Please carefully check your document and calculate how many of the pages are to be printed in black and white, as this is charged at a different rate to colour. Please note: if your document has blank pages, i.e. at the end of a chapter or section then the blank page is counted as a black and white page. Please make sure that you include blank pages in your black & white page count otherwise your price and the thickness of your book will be calculated wrong and you will have to correct this before we can proceeed. This option is simply here so that you can calculate a price. We will check all files for the number of black and white and the number of colour pages and you will need to adjust the file or pay the difference in price if this number is not correct.
Do you want the inside pages printed to the edge (bled)?
If you want the inside pages printed right to the edge then please choose this option. This is typically used where a background image or colour runs right to the edge of the sheet. Remember - if you want the edges bled then you need to supply artwork with a 2mm bleed all round. If you do not undertand what this means, there is a help section that explains bleeds. If you need further clarification, then please call the helpdesk for assistance. Due to the way that these books are printed, you must select this option even if only one page in your book is bled to the edge.
What weight paper do you want?
This is the weight of the inside pages. We do not recommend printing colour pages on 80gsm paper.
How many books do you want printed?
Please enter the number of books that you would like printed. You can alter this quantity without re-specifying the whole book, so that you can check the price.
What proofing option do you want?
We include one soft (PDF) proof with your order. If you require the job proofed again then we charge a nominal fee of £5.00 for each additional proof. If you want a hardcopy proof, just simply order one copy of your book.
How fast do you need them?
Choose the speed that you need these printed. The longer you give us, the cheaper the price is (up to 7 working days). You choose how fast you want us to print them in working days (bank holidays and weekends are not working days) and then the delivery service that you want. You can also collect your books from our factory, but this is strictly by prior appointment. Please also note that the time to print is from when you have approved your proof and (except customers with credit accounts) when you have paid for the job.
What delivery option do you want?
Standard next day delivery is not guaranteed and can be any time during the business day. You must be in to receive your books. If you'd like to make other arrangements, please speak to us well in advance of the books being despatched as our couriers have standard instructions not to leave a delivery without a signature. Please note that free delivery does not include islands and some remote parts of Scotland. Your idea of what constitutes a remote area may not match our couriers, so please check your postcode in the delivery section of our help pages.
