HELP

1 What size is your book?

Our on-line price calculator can currently only work out two sizes:-
A4 210x297mm
A5 148x210mm

In fact, there are lots of other sizes that we can manufacture, up to and including A3. So, if there is any size that is not displayed here, just call us for a prompt quotation.

You should also remember that we will always assume that your book is portrait orientation and bind accordingly. We can manufacture landscape orientation books, but you must tell us that this is what you want.

2 How do you want the cover printed?

We offer the following options
Full colour outside cover (front, spine and back), blank inside.
Full colour outside and inside (inside front and rear of cover).
Full colour outside and black&white inside.

4 What weight card do you want for the cover?

We recommend 250gsm for the cover, but there are other options if you need them.

5 How many inside pages are there?

A each printed page is counted, so one sheet could be two pages. For example, a 200 page book would have 100 sheets of paper inside.

6 How do you want the inside pages printed?

There are two options: full colour and black&white. If you have a book that is primarily black&white, but has a few colour pages and you want more than 50 copies; please contact us for a specific quotation as this is likely to be cheaper than the full colour throughout price. You need to remember that any colour on a page means that the page is charged as colour.

7 What weight paper do you want?

These are all good quality, bright white sheets. If you compare the 80gsm to the sheets inside the latest blockbuster paperback book, you will see that they are whiter and smoother. The 100gsm and 120gsm papers are higher quality than the 80gsm - they are smoother again and brighter white. For colour printing, we recommend that you stick to the 100gsm and 120gsm paper weights.

8 Do you want the inside pages printed to the edge (bled)?

This is not relevant if your inside pages are just text. We recommend that all text is kept at least 5mm from each edge. If you have graphics or photographs - especially when colour is specified - you may want the images to go right to the very edge of the page. In this case, you should choose the bleed option. If you are not very familiar with how to set this up, please have a chat with our helpdesk before submitting artwork.

9 How many books do you want printed?

You can have as few as 1 and in fact, if you have to have a hardcopy proof, this is what we'd recommend. It will be printed on exactly the same kind of digital printing press as your actual print run and finished in exactly the same way.

10 What proofing do you need?

Normally we will just provide you with a PDF proof that has been through a "pre-flight" check. If your original artwork contains colour, this will be converted from RGB to CMYK. If you require a hard-copy proof, then simply choose quantity 1 and buy that. Your single book will be printed on exactly the same kind of digital printing press as your actual print run and finished in exactly the same way.

11 How fast do you need them?

Normal time to print is 5 working days. Working days do not include weekends or bank holidays. You do not receive your order on the 5th day, that is when we ship it to you. You can also collect from our factory, by prior appointment only. Standard delivery is by next working day courier, i.e. if we ship on a Friday then you will get it delivered on a Monday, assuming that the Monday is not a bank holiday. Next working day delivery is not guaranteed, but does happen in over 95% of cases. Delivery upgrades are available for a guaranteed next day before 1pm and Saturday delivery, please ask the helpdesk for details if you require either of these.

DELIVERY

We include next business day delivery in these prices. Bear in mind are that "business days" for the next business day delivery service is defined by the courier company as Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays. This is not a guaranteed next day service, though you can pay extra and order this. Although it's not always possible, it's a really, really good idea to build an extra day into your schedule "just in case"!

These books are the same as the "softback" books that you see in bookshops. We can make small ones, like a novel, or big ones like a "coffee table" book. Some of the uses are: yearbooks, short run book publishing, manuals and reports.
